The Merimbula Medical Centre has serviced the region well into the last century. There have been a number of doctors who have provided service through the centre over this time and the medical records extend back many decades. Dr Frank Simonson took over as principal doctor in 2001 and the practice moved to its current location in 2007. The practice was completely refurbished and extended in 2015 providing a new patient waiting area, Reception Area, four new consulting rooms and a disabled toilet. Downstairs is a new car parking area.

 

The Merimbula Medical Centre has been an accredited medical practice with Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL) since the inception of practice accreditation. AGPAL is an independent body whose aim is to improve the quality of healthcare in Australian General Practices.

 

Merimbula Medical Centre has met the strict guidelines which govern our policies, procedures, hygiene standards and facilities, and as such is a fully AGPAL accredited General Practice. The doctors and nurses of this Surgery are fully licensed and registered to Practice. All staff regularly attend seminars and training courses in order to update and maintain their skills.

 

The Merimbula Medical Centre is an accredited teaching practice for the Australian National University, Newcastle University and Sydney University. It is also an Accredited Registrar Teaching Post for medical graduates training in the speciality of Rural Medicine and General Practice.
